Kate would do anything to please her dominant lover, Kevin. When he wants to invite an old flame to "play", things take an unexpected turn. The past lover is a dominant bisexual man named Mark, who is used to taking just exactly what he wants. Kate goes along, not knowing what to expect, but fascinated with the homoerotic interplay between the two men. Both men take her to submissive levels she never dreamed herself capable of. In the process, Kate tries not to be jealous of Mark's attentions toward her lover.
Ultimately Kate is forced to examine her own willingness to submit in the face of increasing danger from a Dom out of control.
True love is tested on all sides as these three lovers come together in a decided twist on the classic love triangle.

As in her other BDSM novels, Claire Thompson's writing examines the complex rapport between a bondage couple. The key question is this: For Kevin and Kate, will their consensual power exchange and complete trust be enhanced or interrupted by the arrival of a harsh and jealous Dom? Ms. Thompson's writing is eloquent, sensitive and knowledgeable about the intricacies of the BDSM relationship; however the book does contain a forced sex scene not for the faint-hearted.

Known for her erotic BDSM stories that cross the boundaries, this novel by Ms. Thompson shows the various sides to the BDSM lifestyle. The publisher warns that there are non-consensual scenes and I would heed that disclaimer seriously. However, the beauty of this novel is the raw emotion and reality of human feelings, experiences, growth and jealousy. The characters are tested in ways that all three are not expecting, and they deal with these new dynamics in interesting and sometimes cruel ways. I found the story both fascinating and extremely well written as Ms. Thompson was able to anticipate readers' feelings and respond, crafting a novel of adventure, wonder, hope and healing. I recommend Face of Submission for those who want a different type of story that exposes the beauty of a truly healthy BDSM relationship without the rose tinted lenses.

The Face of Submission is a beautifully crafted story and Claire Thompson draws a compelling, graphic picture of a loving dominant/submissive relationship. Erotic and confronting, yet tender and intimate. Claire Thompson doesn't just tease with a small taste of this sub/dom relationship, she delivers a banquet. Extremely explicit , but tempered by the strong emotional content, The Face of Submission gives a thought-provoking insight into the intricacies of this not-so-ordinary relationship.

This story is at times sweet, while at others it deals with very intense subject matter. As the title implies, this book deals with the act of submission, and the trust that this lifestyle entails. Be warned though, there are some very intense scenes; Be warned that there are same sex scenarios in this story, and also a very intense scene that may offend some readers. Not much is taboo in this story and it is not for the faint of heart. But if you like heat, and I'm talking Florida in August kind of heat, then you'll love this story. It's a short enough book to read all in one sitting, but you may be disappointed to see it end.

ExcerptMark and Kevin were both bisexual, though Mark leaned more toward the gay end of the spectrum, and Kevin more toward the straight. Kevin had told Kate that while he liked to 'play' with other men, it was only with a woman that he could make a lasting and meaningful emotional connection.
Kevin had hesitated to talk about it at first, but Kate had assured him she wouldn't judge him, or find him less desirable because of his past gay relationships. Indeed, she was fascinated, and eager to understand what would motivate a man like Kevin, a man who was dominant with women, to submit sexually to another man.
"Well, you know," he'd explained, "there's a thing called a 'switch'. Where you are dominant with some people, but submissive with others. Most people are like you, Kate, either one way or the other-submissive or dominant."
He laughed a little and commented, "Just like most people are either straight or gay, I guess, but in that case too, I go either way. Mostly my impulses are dominant, and always with women they are. That's just the way I'm hard-wired.
"But with some men, well, with one man in particular, I've always been submissive. I haven't actually been with that many guys, really. I mean, I was more active in my wild college days, which is when I met Mark. Eve n before our relationship became sexual, he was definitely the dominant force. He was the active one-I was more passive. He was the popular guy, I guess you could say, and I was his 'sidekick'. It worked for both of us, and when it turned sexual between us, it naturally extended to that aspect of our relationship."
He paused, looking in the distance, as if recalling that time. "For me it was just about fun. It was daring and exotic, both the gay play, and the D/s stuff. To tell you the truth, Mark was more into it than I was. More into me, if you will." Kevin smiled, looking a little embarrassed. He continued, "I mean, don't get me wrong, I always thought he was a great guy, but, as I explained to him, I could never connect that way with another man. It's just not part of my nature."
Stroking Kate's cheek tenderly, he said, "No, my nature is to be with a woman. That's where my heart lies. With you, Kate, my lovely and perfect woman."
Kate smiled, still intrigued with his bisexuality, but content to let the conversation die, as Kevin's fingers trailed down her neck, to her nipples and past her belly, to the sweet, hot center of her.
"Let's talk about Mark later," he'd murmured, as he kissed her neck, and Kate agreed that was a good idea.
She did bring it up again, though, as they were lying in bed, each with a good book propped against their knees. In theory, Kate had found the whole idea of Kevin's homosexual dalliances quite exciting. In theory, the thought of two strong, sexy men locked in a sensual but manly embrace was highly erotic to her. In theory. But now, faced with the very real prospect of meeting Kevin's onetime lover-his male lover, Kate felt confused, maybe even jealous.
Where would she fit in with this man?
"He's coming this Saturday. He'll stay the weekend. I want everything perfect. Of course, the finest sheets for the guest bed, and fresh flowers in every room. Why don't you make that delicious mushroom-stuffed trout thing you do? He'll love that! And maybe as an appetizer you could make that artichoke dip I love. And dessert, let's see," Kevin squinted up at the ceiling, as if the idea might be painted there. Apparently it was, as he said, "Yes, the raspberry chocolate torte thing, how about that?"
Kevin grinned at his slave girl, his face alight with excitement. Kate stifled her jealous impulse. She did love cooking for guests, and they hadn't had anyone over for a couple of weeks. It was a departure for Kevin to suggest the menu, but Mark was obviously a very special friend indeed.
